TPMS Programming & Reset in Brampton

Reset and reprogram TPMS sensors after a tire swap, sensor replacement or seasonal wheel change so the warning light clears properly.

After a tire change, sensor swap or seasonal wheel swap, the vehicle’s TPMS module often needs to learn the new sensor IDs. We use a TPMS tool to wake up each sensor, write the new IDs into the vehicle’s body control module, then verify the warning light is cleared and each tire’s pressure is reading correctly on the dash. No more nagging warning light.

A TPMS light that will not clear after a wheel change is almost never a fault — the module is simply still looking for the sensor IDs it knew before. Some vehicles relearn on their own after a few kilometres of driving; many need the IDs written in with a tool, and a few require a specific sequence at the valve stems in a set order.

It is worth knowing what the two light states mean, because they are different problems. A steady light means at least one tire is genuinely low — check the pressures before booking anything. A light that flashes for about a minute at startup and then stays solid means the system itself has a fault: a dead sensor, or IDs it cannot match.

If you run two sets of wheels, we can write both sets of IDs where the vehicle supports it, so the light clears on its own each time you swap.

Questions we get asked

Why is my TPMS light still on after new tires?

The module is looking for sensor IDs it no longer sees. Some vehicles relearn while driving; most need the new IDs written in with a tool, which takes a few minutes.

What does a flashing TPMS light mean?

A flash for about a minute at startup, then a steady light, means a system fault rather than low pressure — usually a dead sensor battery or an ID the vehicle cannot match. A steady light from the start means a tire really is low.

Can you store both sets of sensor IDs?

On vehicles that support it, yes. Then the light clears by itself each time you swap between your summer and winter wheels.
