Tire Balancing in Brampton

Computer-balanced wheel + tire assemblies that eliminate steering vibration, extend tire life and protect bearings and suspension parts.

If your steering wheel shakes at highway speed, the most common cause is unbalanced wheels. We balance every new tire we install on a calibrated computer balancer and add adhesive or hammer-on weights as needed to bring each wheel within spec. Balanced wheels mean smoother steering, longer-lasting tires and less strain on bearings, tie rods and suspension bushings — issues that get expensive if ignored.

The signature is specific enough to diagnose from the driver seat. A vibration that appears in a band around 100 to 120 km/h and smooths out above and below it is almost always balance. Felt through the steering wheel it is usually a front wheel; felt through the seat, a rear one. A shake that only shows up under braking is not balance at all — that is brakes, and no amount of weight on the rim will fix it.

A single lost weight is enough to cause it, which is why a wheel that was fine last month can start shaking after one hard pothole. The same impact often knocks the alignment out at the same time, so it is worth checking both after a bad hit.

Left alone, an imbalance is not just uncomfortable. It scallops the tread unevenly, which is what makes a tire noisy, and it puts a constant high-frequency load through wheel bearings and suspension bushings.

Questions we get asked

Why does my steering wheel shake at 110 km/h?

Most often a lost balance weight on a front wheel. The shake appears in a speed band around 100 to 120 km/h and smooths out above and below it. Rebalancing is quick and inexpensive.

Do new tires need balancing?

Yes, every one. Every tire and wheel combination has small heavy spots, and an unbalanced wheel vibrates at highway speed while wearing both the tire and the suspension prematurely.

Is balancing the same as alignment?

No. Balancing corrects weight distribution around the wheel and fixes vibration. Alignment corrects the angles the wheels sit at and fixes pulling and uneven wear across the tread.
