Tire Repair (Puncture Repair) in Brampton

Internal patch-and-plug puncture repairs for nail and screw damage in the tread area — done from the inside, the way safety standards require.

Picked up a nail on the 410? Most punctures in the tread area can be safely repaired. We dismount the tire, inspect the inside casing for hidden damage, apply a combination patch-and-plug from the inside (the only repair method recognised by the Rubber Manufacturers Association), remount and rebalance the wheel. Sidewall punctures and slashes can’t be safely repaired — we will tell you straight if the tire isn’t repairable.

The reason a proper repair means taking the tire off the rim is that the damage you can see from outside is not the damage that matters. A tire driven even a short distance while flat can be scuffed away on the inner liner, and that is invisible until the tire is dismounted. A plug pushed in from the outside at a roadside seals the hole without anyone ever looking at the casing.

Three things put a tire beyond repair, and none of them are negotiable: a puncture in the sidewall or the shoulder, a hole larger than about 6 mm, or a casing already damaged from running flat. A bulge anywhere on the sidewall means the internal structure has failed — that tire is a blowout waiting for a hot day on the highway.

If you have a slow leak with no visible nail, it is often the valve stem rather than the tread. That is a cheaper fix, and it is worth checking before condemning the tire.

Questions we get asked

Can a nail in the tread be repaired?

Usually yes, if it is in the central tread area and under about 6 mm. We dismount the tire, inspect the inside casing, and fit a combination patch-and-plug from the inside.

Why can sidewall punctures not be repaired?

The sidewall flexes constantly as the tire rotates, so no patch stays sealed there. A sidewall puncture or a bulge means the tire needs replacing, not repairing.

I drove on it flat. Is it still repairable?

Often not. Running flat scrubs away the inner liner, and that damage is only visible once the tire is off the rim. We will look and tell you honestly either way.
